SHOCKWAVE PLAYER : I was hoping I could simply script some (new) Shockwave parameters in theHTML page where the DCR appears.There isn't really much difference, since verbose syntax is still supportedand should be 100% backwards compatible (in fact, there are still times whenthe dot syntax doesn't work).There is one big change though: if you have used the old line-continuationcharacter ( ¬ ) to write statements across more than one line, then thatwill no longer work. The character has been replaced with a backslash ( \ ),but you can replace all instances by doing a global find/replace. This isthe most common cause of syntax errors, when upgrading to D8.5 from an olderversion.NB: Remember to back up your original files. If you save in D8.5successfully, you will no longer be able to open the file in an olderversion, and there is no easy way to downgrade it again.Do you access local files in the dswmedia folder, by any chance?"No longer run" is a vague definition. SHOCKWAVE PLAYER : Unfortunately my experience is that EVERY time Director comes ina new version or the Shockwave plugin changes, there are at leasta couple of thing that worked before that stops working.Some things are entirely Macromedias fault. Some things are worse:Code that never should have worked but did anyway - suddenlystops working. Probably due to a better compiling routine?I for one will join any terrorist organisation that targets Macromediaif Macromedia makes it impossible to create sprites on-the-fly withouthaving anything in the score. ;-)All my projects use puppetSprites and I think the clumpsy alternativeto have dummy members in all sprite channels in the score just in casewe need to create a new sprite is probably the dumbest redneckjoke I've ever heard of.But - I would not raise one eyebrow if they just puts an end to thispossibility. SHOCKWAVE PLAYER : What actually happens is that the first screen of my movie appears normally;while it's sitting there looking nice, the movie should be downloading filesfrom the website (not locally - there are no local operations). Once thefiles are downloaded and opened in the movie, the next screen should appear.It doesn't. So I need to have download a standaloneexe from macromedia - "shockwaveinstaller.exe": File size-1913 Kb.Now I want to check from my .exe whether my client has installed thatshockwaveinstaller.exe on his machine or not. Because downloading this"shockwaveinstaller.exe" one has to be online. I will provide"shockwaveinstaller.exe" ; along with my .exe, becuase my clients may view myproject offline. I am working on D7. Is there a way? Is this player differsfrom version to version, if yes - then I have to stop it right now. :-) SHOCKWAVE PLAYER : What is the purpose of reducing the size of the .exe?If you're trying to make it load faster from CD the best way I know of is to make it a normalprojector (avoiding the time taken to decompress a compressed projector) with the necessaryxtras in a folder called "xtras" next to the projector. Use a "stub" projector which containsonly on startMovie \ go movie "whatever" \ end startMovie.When you burn the CD, make sure that autorun.inf and the projector are written first,followed by the xtras and the main movie (as a .dir or protected .dxr).Also, you may wish to consider using fastsplash to show a splash screen whilst the projectorloads.Balan,If you have a projector (a normal or compressed projector) on your CD, thatprojector can play your DCR files just like it can *.dir and *.dxr files,you don't need to install Shockwave on the end user's machine. If you areusing a *Shockwave* projector, then yes your end user will need to haveShockwave installed.
