VIDEO PLAYER : I totally agree and have written ATI with questions on this same topic andreceived the generic response. I'm not too happy that I purchased a brandnew top of the line video board and it's features are not supported in anoperating system such as Windows NT. Hopefull, they'll realize thatWindows NT5 isn't coming out for like 9 months - at least - and maybethey'll write some drivers to support it.Microsloth 9 months means reality 1+ years. Also, who cares if it'scomming out in 9 months, I have no plans of just 'jumping in' when it firstcomes out...it may take another 6 months+ before I'm willing to upgrade. NT 4.0 WS works just fine, and I really have no reason to upgrade. They also DID say they were going to release a TV tuner app..just nocapture.. But of course, they have given no release date....P.S. Do the latest release of the drivers leave little things on thescreen (or not fill in a section correctly) every now and then? VIDEO PLAYER : I have a 6400/200, Apple Video system and HP 20" monitor. I just added theTV tuner card. Normally I run the display at 1024x768, but it turns outApple Video Player won't display video unless the monitor is set to640x480. Is there a workaround for this (software other than Apple Video Playerperhaps)? I realize one option is to get a proper graphics card for my 20"and plug an old monitor on the built-in port, but that's a last resort.-- Chris Ellens From: ()Subject: Re: Apple Video Player on 640x480 screen only? Basically I was getting garbage after I updated toSystem 8.5.1. I hope this solution works for you too...I read Chris Ellens' earlier post on Apple Video Player, where he writes: "Normally I run the display at 1024x768, but it turns out Apple Video Player won't display video unless the monitor is set to 640x480." VIDEO PLAYER : Very interesting! I normally run at 1024x768 myself. Using the controlstrip I set resolution to 640x480, whereupon Video Player workedperfectly. Taking a chance, I set the resolution to 832x624 while VideoPlayer was running, and it still worked, and then on to 1024x768 and I wasback in business! Damn if I know why this worked or what caused this problem in the firstplace, but there it is. Thanks anyway to everyone who took the time to read my postings.I'm running a GT, using a VCR connected to the RCA video in as a TV. Mymonitor normally runs at 800x600, and I too am having the 640x480problem. I launch Apple Video Player in 800x600 mode, and max size is640x480. It will launch, just I'll get a window 640x480.If I have the monitor in 640x480, turn on A.V.P., then switch back to800x600, it goes from full screen (640x480 in same resolution) to partialscreen (640x480 in resolution of 800x600).If anyone can shed light on this, I would love it. I hate having tochange screen res. to watch the TV. It's a hassle. VIDEO PLAYER : Hi Chris,First of all, thanks for the reply on my question on more memory for my6400. I managed to put in another 64M, and everything is just fine.Anyhow, maybe I have an answer to your problem. Since you have a 6400 ,good chance that you have Avid Cinema on it. The extensions for Avid and Apple Video Player have a conflict!Go to Extension manager, disable Avid Cinema extension and restart. Nowit will be possible to use Apple video player on higher resolutions. Works fine with 832*... with me. Haven't tried higher resolutions, though.] Chris Ellens wrote:] > ] > I have a 6400/200, Apple Video system and HP 20" monitor. I just added the] > TV tuner card. VIDEO PLAYER : I've got a PowerMac 7500/200 (upgraded to a 200 MHz 604e) running MacOS7.6. I'm seeing poor a very strange problem in Apple Video Player as wellas poor video frame rates.I've got a video camera plugged into the s-video in port on the Mac. Whenviewing the video via Apple Video Player the image appears completelymessed up, like a television out of tune - the image is broken up intoblurred diagonal stripes. Bizarelly, if I have a window (any window)partially over the video image the problem goes away!! This is very, verystrange. I've managed to get around this problem by positioning thewindow so that the control strip is partially covering one corner. Thatway I can continue to work with it, but it's not exactly an idealsolution. Also, I'm seeing very poor frame rates in the video (not even talkingabout capturing, just viewing, but obviously capturing is just as bad orworse). I see much better rates at home on my PowerMac 6100AV! I knowthis can't be right.
